Denise Minter practicing self-compassion at Esalen, in Big Sur, CA 2013.
Why was this entry stuck in “draft”? Sorry I didn’t publish this back in 2013…..better late than never.
One of my favorite speakers at Wisdom 2.0 was Kristin Neff, Ph. D., Associate Professor, University of Texas at Austin, who has created a body of research on the topic of Self-Compassion.
What are the Components of Self-Compassion?
- Immersive Attention: which allows for insight, with a generative quality.
- Slowing Down: not distracted, which allows for wisdom and flow.
- the Power of Patience
Scale to Measure Self-Compassion
- Self-Kindness vs. Self-Judgment
- Common Humanity vs. Isolation (a shared human experience
- Mindfulness vs. Over-Identification

We will have Qigong Pajama Party ever Monday through Friday 8 am -9 am through December 31, 2013.
From Jan. 1 – 19, I will be traveling lightly. Our PJ party will be in hiatus for those few weeks, although the Chi Field will be full on, holding us between Heaven and Earth.
Be sure to ask me for a Pajama Party CD as an mp3 download so you can continue your practice throughout the beginning of January.
Al always, be in touch if you have any questions, ideas, comments to share.

The family had a great time camping in Yosemite. We had a week of tent camping at Camp Mather, a San Francisco, city-owned camp deep in bear country. Don’t leave out your chocolates……..
Denise enjoying a late afternoon turn with a hoola hoop by the Lake. With all the food, 3 square meals a day, one must exercise as much as possible to make room for strawberry shortcake. Haola.

Sending out Chiful Blessings to all Geminis. Happy Birthday to you, and you, and you, and……………….;-)

If you wish to experience Heaven on Earth, do get yourself to Esalen as soon as possible.
Esalen grows much of their own food and flowers.
Master Mingtong Gu offered a week of Wisdom Healing Qigong at Esalen last week, and I attended as an assistant teacher, along with Judy Guma and Juliette. Enjoy these pictures, for a hint of the beauty and majesty of the land, the people, the spirit of Esalen.
